Commutative Algebra, chapter X, § 6. Extension des scalaires dans les algèbres régulières
To say that an extension of a field is a -algebra essentially of finite type means that it is an extension of finite type in the sense of A, V, p. 11, Def. 2. The -algebra is of finite type only if it is an extension of finite degree of (V, § 3, No. 4, Cor. 3 of Th. 3).
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
