Commutative Algebra, chapter X, § 6. Extension des scalaires dans les algèbres régulières

Let kk be a ring, AA a kk-algebra and BB an AA-algebra. If AA is essentially of finite type over kk and BB essentially of finite type over AA, then BB is essentially of finite type over kk.

Let us denote by ρ:A→B\rho : A \to B the canonical mapping. Let x=(xi)i∈Ix = (x_i)_{i \in I} be a finite essentially generating family of the kk-algebra AA, and let A′A' be the subalgebra generated by it; let y=(yj)j∈Jy = (y_j)_{j \in J} be a finite essentially generating family of the AA-algebra BB. Let us denote by B′B' the sub-kk-algebra of BB generated by the ρ(xi)\rho(x_i) and the yjy_j. Let b∈Bb \in B; by hypothesis there exist polynomials PP and QQ in A[(Yj)j∈J]A[(Y_j)_{j \in J}] such that Q(y)Q(y) is invertible in BB and such that one has Q(y)b=P(y)Q(y) b = P(y). The non-zero coefficients of PP and QQ are finite in number; there exists a polynomial R∈k[(Xi)i∈I]R \in k[(X_i)_{i \in I}] such that R(x)R(x) is invertible in AA and that R(x)PR(x) P and R(x)QR(x) Q belong to A′[(Yj)j∈J]A'[(Y_j)_{j \in J}]. Then ρ(R(x))Q(y)\rho(R(x)) Q(y) is invertible in BB, and one has

ρ(R(x))Q(y)b=ρ(R(x))P(y)∈B′. \rho(R(x)) Q(y) b = \rho(R(x)) P(y) \in B'.

Thus the elements ρ(xi)\rho(x_i) for i∈Ii \in I and yjy_j for j∈Jj \in J form a finite essentially generating family of the kk-algebra BB.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
