Commutative Algebra, chapter X, § 6. Extension des scalaires dans les algèbres régulières

Let AA be an artinian kk-algebra. If AA is normal, it is reduced, hence isomorphic to a finite product of extensions of kk (A, VIII, § 8, No. 1, prop. 2). The following conditions are equivalent:

A is separable; — A is absolutely regular; — A is absolutely normal.

In fact, if AA is absolutely normal, it is separable; if AA is separable, for every finite extension k′k' of kk, the ring A(k′)A_{(k')} is reduced and artinian, hence isomorphic to a product of fields, and consequently regular, so that AA is absolutely regular.

If moreover the kk-algebra AA is of finite degree, the preceding conditions are also equivalent to saying that AA is étale (A, V, p. 34, th. 4).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
