Commutative Algebra, chapter X, § 6. Extension des scalaires dans les algèbres régulières

Let kk be a field of characteristic 0 and AA a kk-algebra essentially of finite type. For AA to be regular, it is necessary and sufficient that the AA-module Ωk(A)\Omega_k(A) be projective.

By Corollary 2, it is enough to prove that an artinian local kk-algebra AA such that Ωk(A)\Omega_k(A) is a free AA-module is a field. Now, by IX, § 3, No. 3, Theorem 1, there exists a subfield KK of AA such that A=K⊕mAA = K \oplus m_A. Let δ:A→mA/mA2\delta : A \to m_A/m_A^2 be the composite mapping of the projection of AA onto mAm_A and the canonical mapping mA→mA/mA2m_A \to m_A/m_A^2. One verifies as in the proof of Lemma 4 that δ\delta is a kk-derivation. But every kk-derivation of AA into an AA-module annihilates mAm_A: let in fact x∈mAx \in m_A, and nn an integer ≥1\geq 1 such that one has xn−1≠0, xn=0x^{n-1} \neq 0,\ x^n = 0. This implies in the AA-module Ωk(A)\Omega_k(A) the relation nxn−1dx=0nx^{n-1} dx = 0, hence dx=0dx = 0 since nxn−1≠0nx^{n-1} \neq 0. Thus δ(mA)=0\delta(m_A) = 0, hence mA=mA2m_A = m_A^2, and finally mA={0}m_A = \{0\}.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
