Algebra, chapter IX, § 1. Formes sesquilinéaires

Suppose that AA is a field and that Φ\Phi is non-degenerate. For a subspace MM of EE to be of finite dimension, it is necessary and sufficient that M0M^0 be of finite codimension in FF, and one then has codim⁡M0=dim⁡M\operatorname{codim} M^0 = \dim M, and M00=MM^{00} = M.

Comme F0={0}F^0 = \{0\}, the first two assertions result from prop. 4 applied to the restriction of Φ\Phi to M×FM \times F. Moreover, M0M^0 is the orthogonal of M00M^{00}, hence M00M^{00} is of finite dimension equal to codim⁡M0=dim⁡M\operatorname{codim} M^0 = \dim M; but since M00⊃MM^{00} \supset M, we have M00=MM^{00} = M.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
