Algebra, chapter X, § 1. Compléments d’algèbre linéaire

Suppose that the diagram (4) is commutative and has exact rows. Then:

(i) If u′,fu', f and hh are injective, gg is injective. (ii) If v,fv, f and hh are surjective, gg is surjective.

Assertion (i) is a consequence of assertion (i) of prop. 2: indeed we have Ker (f)=0\mathrm{Ker}\,(f) = 0 and Ker (h)=0\mathrm{Ker}\,(h) = 0, hence Ker (g)=0\mathrm{Ker}\,(g) = 0.

Assertion (ii) is a consequence of assertion (ii) of prop. 2: indeed, we have Coker (f)=0\mathrm{Coker}\,(f) = 0 and Coker (h)=0\mathrm{Coker}\,(h) = 0, hence Coker (g)=0\mathrm{Coker}\,(g) = 0.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
