Algebra, chapter X, § 1. Compléments d’algèbre linéaire

Let a∈Aa \in A be such that the mapping aA:x↦axa_A : x \mapsto ax of AA into AA is injective (“aa is not a left divisor of 0”). If EE is a flat AA-module, then the homothety aEa_E is injective, since it is identified with aA⊗1:Ad⊗AE→Ad⊗AEa_A \otimes 1 : A_d \otimes_A E \to A_d \otimes_A E. In particular, if AA is integral, every flat AA-module is without torsion. Conversely, if AA is principal, every torsion-free AA-module is flat: indeed, if the AA-module EE is without torsion, every finitely generated submodule of EE is free (VII, § 4, No. 4, Cor. 2 to Theorem 4), and EE is a filtered increasing union of flat submodules, hence is flat (Prop. 4 (ii)).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
