Let g be a k-Lie algebra, M a g-module. An extension of g by M is an exact sequence of k-modules
0→Mihpg→0
where h is a k-Lie algebra, p a homomorphism of Lie algebras, and where i(ρ(H)m)=[H,i(m)] for H∈h,m∈M. Two extensions
0→Mihpg→0,0→Mi′h′p′g→0
are said to be equivalent if there exists a homomorphism u:h→h′ such that p′∘u=p,u∘i=i′. We denote by Liex(g,M) the set of equivalence classes of extensions of g by M. We suppose that g is a free k-module.
a) Let (E):0→M→hpg→0 be an extension of g by M; choose a k-linear section s:g→h of p. We define an element f∈C2(g,M) (X, p. 196, exercise 28, b)) by putting
i(f(x,y))=[s(x),s(y)]−s([x,y])for x,y∈g.
Prove that f is a 2-cocycle and that its class in H2(g,M) does not depend on the choice of s; it is denoted by θ(E).
b) Prove that θ defines a bijection of Liex(g,M) onto H2(g,M). Describe directly the group structure on Liex(g,M) obtained by transport by γ.
c) Let U be the enveloping algebra of g, M(π) the (U, U)-bimodule associated to M by means of the augmentation π:U→k (X, p. 196, exercise 27). Let 0→M(π)→BρU→0 be an extension of U by M(π) (exercise 1); denote by b the set of elements b of B such that p(b)∈j(g). Prove that b is a k-Lie algebra, an extension of g by M. This construction defines a mapping λ:Exk(U,M(π))→Liex(g,M). Prove that the diagram
