Commutative Algebra, I, 50

Let AA be a commutative ring, BB an AA-algebra, (Cλ)λ∈L(C_\lambda)_{\lambda \in L} a family of AA-algebras and Bλ=Cλ⊗ABB_\lambda = C_\lambda \otimes_A B the tensor product algebra of CλC_\lambda and BB for all λ∈L\lambda \in L. Let EE be a left BB-module. Set Eλ=Bλ⊗BE=Cλ⊗AEE_\lambda = B_\lambda \otimes_B E = C_\lambda \otimes_A E; this is a (Bλ,Cλ)(B_\lambda, C_\lambda)-bimodule. Similarly, if FF is a right BB-module, set

Fλ=F⊗BBλ=F⊗ACλ, F_\lambda = F \otimes_B B_\lambda = F \otimes_A C_\lambda,
which is a (Cλ,Bλ)(C_\lambda, B_\lambda)-bimodule.

(a) Show that the (Cλ,Cλ)(C_\lambda, C_\lambda)-bimodule F,⊗BλEλF, \otimes_{B_\lambda} E_\lambda is isomorphic to (F⊗BE)⊗ACλ(F \otimes_B E) \otimes_A C_\lambda.

(b) Show that, if EE is a flat (resp. faithfully flat) BB-module, each of the EλE_\lambda is a flat (resp. faithfully flat) BλB_\lambda-module. The converse is true if we assume further that ⨁λ∈LCλ\bigoplus_{\lambda \in L} C_\lambda is a faithfully flat AA-module.

(c) Show that, if LL is finite, each of the EλE_\lambda is a finitely generated projective BλB_\lambda-module and ⨁λ∈LCλ\bigoplus_{\lambda \in L} C_\lambda is a faithfully flat AA-module, then EE is a finitely generated projective BB-module (use Proposition 12 of no. 6).
