Exercise 2, § 5

Commutative Algebra, II, 146

Let KK be a field and BB the ring of polynomials with coefficients in KK in an infinite system of indeterminates Xi (i∈N)X_i \ (i \in \mathbf{N}); let bb be the ideal of BB generated by the products XiXjX_i X_j (i≠ji \neq j), AA the quotient ring B/bB/b, ξi\xi_i the class of XiX_i mod. bb (i∈Ni \in \mathbf{N}), pp the ideal of AA generated by the ξi\xi_i of index i≥1i \geq 1, which is prime, and uu the canonical mapping A→A/pA \to A/p. Show that up:A→(A/p)pu_p : A \to (A/p)_p is bijective but that there exists no f∈A−pf \in A - p such that ufu_f is bijective.
