Exercise 24, § 2

Algebra, II, 394

Let MM be an AA-module, II its injective envelope (Exercise 18), aa a two-sided ideal of AA and QQ the submodule of II consisting of the z∈Iz \in I such that az={0}az = \{0\}; QQ has a natural (A/a)(A/a)-module structure. Let NN be the submodule of MM consisting of the x∈Mx \in M such that ax={0}ax = \{0\}; if NN is considered as an (A/a)(A/a)-module, show that QQ is isomorphic to an injective envelope of NN.
