Let AA be the ring Z/4Z\mathbf{Z}/4\mathbf{Z}, mm the ideal 2Z/4Z2\mathbf{Z}/4\mathbf{Z} of AA and EE the AA-module

A/m. Show that the canonical mapping E∗⊗AE→HomA(E,E)E^* \otimes_A E \to \mathrm{Hom}_A(E, E) is neither injective nor surjective. The same is true of the canonical mapping

E⊗AE→HomA(E∗,E) E \otimes_A E \to \mathrm{Hom}_A(E^*, E)
and the canonical mapping E∗⊗AE∗→(E⊗AE)∗E^* \otimes_A E^* \to (E \otimes_A E)^*.
