Algebra, III, 651

Over a finite-dimensional vector space E, let z=x1∧x2∧⋯∧xpz = x_1 \wedge x_2 \wedge \cdots \wedge x_p be a pure p-vector ≠0\neq 0; let v∗v^* be a q-form (q≤pq \leq p) and u∗u^* an arbitrary element of ⋀(E∗)\bigwedge(E^*). Show that

(u∗∧v∗)⌟z=(−1)q(q−1)/2∑HρH,K⟨v∗,xH⟩(u∗⌟xK) (u^* \wedge v^*) \lrcorner z = (-1)^{q(q-1)/2} \sum_H \rho_{H, K} \langle v^*, x_H \rangle (u^* \lrcorner x_K)

where H runs through the set of subsets of [1,p][1, p] with q elements, K is the complement of H in [1,p][1, p] and xHx_H (resp. xKx_K) denotes the exterior product of the xix_i such that i∈Hi \in H (resp. i∈Ki \in K).
