Algebra, IV, p. 88

Let a,(1≤i≤n)a, (1 \leq i \leq n) be nn distinct elements of a commutative field KK, βi\beta_i (1≤i≤n1 \leq i \leq n) and γi\gamma_i (1≤i≤n1 \leq i \leq n) 2n arbitrary elements of KK. Show that there exists one and only one polynomial f∈K[X]f \in K[X] of degree ≤2n−1\leq 2n - 1 such that f(αi)=βif(\alpha_i) = \beta_i and f′′(αi)=γif''(\alpha_i) = \gamma_i for 1≤i≤n1 \leq i \leq n (Hermite interpolation formula) (to begin with consider the case where 2n−12n - 1 of the 2n2n elements βi,γi\beta_i, \gamma_i are zero).
