With the notation as in Ex. 14, let E,F,GE, F, G be three k-modules, σ∈S(E,F)\sigma \in S(E, F), τ∈S(F,G)\tau \in S(F, G), and suppose that σ\sigma is of order ≥1\geq 1. The series τ∘A(σ)∈S(E,G)\tau \circ A(\sigma) \in S(E, G) is called the composition of aa and τ\tau; it is denoted by τ∘a\tau \circ a. a) Let φ\varphi be a polynomial law of EE into FF (Ex. 9) and ψ\psi a polynomial law of FF into GG, and denote by aφa_\varphi and σψ\sigma_\psi the series associated with φ\varphi and ψ\psi respectively. Show that if the homogeneous component of degree 0 of φ\varphi is zero, then σφ\sigma_\varphi is of order ≥1\geq 1 and σψ∘σφ\sigma_\psi \circ \sigma_\varphi is the series associated with the polynomial law ψ∘φ\psi \circ \varphi. b) Show that if aa is of order ≥p\geq p and τ\tau is of order ≥q\geq q, then τ∘σ\tau \circ \sigma is of order ≥pq\geq pq. c) Show that for every integer pp, (τ∘σ)(p)=τ(p)∘A(σ)(\tau \circ \sigma)^{(p)} = \tau^{(p)} \circ A(\sigma). Deduce that if τ\tau is of order ≥1\geq 1 and if HH is a k-module, then for any ρ∈S(G,H)\rho \in S(G, H) we have (ρ∘τ)∘a=ρ∘(τ∘σ)(\rho \circ \tau) \circ a = \rho \circ (\tau \circ \sigma). d) Suppose that GG is a k-algebra. Show that the mapping τ↦τ∘A(σ)\tau \mapsto \tau \circ A(\sigma) is a homomorphism of the algebra S(F,G)S(F, G) into the algebra S(E,G)S(E, G).
