Let K be an infinite field, N a Galois extension of degree nn of K, f∈K[X]f \in K[X] the minimal polynomial of an element 0 of N such that N=K(0)N = K(0). The group Γ=Gal(N/K)\Gamma = \mathrm{Gal}(N/K) is allowed to operate on the polynomials in N[X]N[X] by operating on the coefficients of these polynomials. a) Let g∈N[X]g \in N[X] be the polynomial of degree ≤n−1\leq n - 1 such that g(θ)=1,g(σ(θ))=0g(\theta) = 1, g(\sigma(\theta)) = 0 for all σ≠1\sigma \neq 1 in Γ\Gamma. For every subgroup AA of Γ\Gamma let pA∈N[X]p_A \in N[X] be the polynomial det⁡(στ(g))σ∈A,τ∈A\det(\sigma \tau(g))_{\sigma \in A, \tau \in A}. Show that

pA2≡∑σ∈Aσ(g)mod  f p_A^2 \equiv \sum_{\sigma \in A} \sigma(g) \mod f
and deduce that pA≠0p_A \neq 0. b) Deduce that there exists an element a∈Ka \in K such that for every subgroup AA of Γ\Gamma the conjugates of g(a)g(a) over the subfield k(Δ)k(\Delta) form a normal basis of N over k(Δ)k(\Delta).
