Algebra, V, p. 174

In an algebraic closure Ω\Omega of Q(X)\mathbf{Q}(X) consider two pure transcendental extensions E=Q(X)E = \mathbf{Q}(X) and F=Q(X+i)F = \mathbf{Q}(X + i) (where i2=−1i^2 = -1) of the field Q. Show that E∩F=QE \cap F = \mathbf{Q} but that E and F are not algebraically disjoint over Q.
