Let A be a -algebra. A multiplier of A is a multiplier of the -pseudobimodule A. We denote the -algebra of multipliers of A by . a) Prove that the mapping is a -algebra homomorphism and that we have and for . The image of the homomorphism is therefore a two-sided ideal of the ring .
b) A two-sided ideal of a -algebra A is called faithful if its left and right annihilators are zero. Show that if A is faithful in A, then the homomorphism is injective and the ideal is faithful in .
c) Let B be a unital -algebra containing A as a two-sided ideal. For , let and be the mappings from A to A such that for , we have and , and set . Show that for every and that the resulting mapping is a ring homomorphism whose restriction to A is the mapping . Show that is injective if the ideal A is faithful in B.
