Let G be a finite group and M a Z\mathbf{Z}[G]-module. Denote by NGN_G the homomorphism m↦∑ggmm\mapsto \sum_ggm from M to M; its image is contained in the submodule MGM^G of M consisting of the invariant elements. Let TG(M)T_G(M) be the quotient group MG/NG(M)M^G/N_G(M). a) Let c∈Z2(G,M)c\in Z^2(G,M). Prove that the element ∑hc(h,g)\sum_hc(h, g) belongs to MGM^G; we denote its class in TG(M)T_G(M) by θc(g)\theta_c(g). Prove that θc\theta_c is a homomorphism from G to TG(M)T_G(M) that is zero when c∈B2(G,M)c\in B^2(G,M). Deduce a homomorphism θM:H2(G,M)→\theta_M: H^2(G,M)\rightarrow Hom(G,TG(M),T_G(M)) from it.

b) Let u:M→Nu: M\rightarrow N be a homomorphism of Z\mathbf{Z}[G]-modules and u~:TG(M)→TG(N)\widetilde{u}: T_G(M)\rightarrow T_G(N) the homomorphism induced by uu. Prove that we have θN∘H2(u)=\theta_N\circ H^2(u) = Hom(1G,u~_G,\widetilde{u})∘θM\circ \theta_M. c) Assume from now on that G is cyclic; let σ\sigma be a generator of G, and denote its order by nn. Let χ∈\chi \in Hom(G,Z/nZ,\mathbf{Z}/n\mathbf{Z}) be the homomorphism that sends σ\sigma to the class of 1, and let λ∈H2(G,Z)\lambda \in H^2(G,\mathbf{Z}) be its image by the connecting homomorphism associated with the exact sequence 0→Z→Z→Z/nZ→00\rightarrow \mathbf{Z}\rightarrow \mathbf{Z}\rightarrow \mathbf{Z}/n\mathbf{Z}\rightarrow 0. Prove that λ\lambda is the class of the element ε∈Z2(G,Z)\varepsilon \in Z^2(G,\mathbf{Z}) such that for 0⩽p<n0\leqslant p < n and 0⩽q<n0\leqslant q < n, the image ε(σp,σq)\varepsilon (\sigma^p, \sigma^q) is equal to 0 if p+q<np+q < n and to 1 if p+q⩾np+q\geqslant n. For m∈MGm\in M^G, denote by hmh_m the Z\mathbf{Z}[G]-linear mapping from Z\mathbf{Z} to M such that hm(1)=mh_m(1) =m. Prove that the image of H2(hm)(λ)H^2(h_m)(\lambda ) by θM\theta_M is equal to the class of mm, so that θM\theta_M is surjective.

d) Prove that θM\theta_M is an isomorphism. (Let c∈Z2(G,M)c\in Z^2(G,M). Prove that we may assume c(g,1)=c(1,g)=1c(g,1) =c(1, g) = 1 for every g∈Gg\in G, and determine the images by d1d^1 of the elements bb and am(m∈M)a_m(m\in M) of C1(G,M)C^1(G,M) defined by b(σp)=∑i=0p−1c(σi,σ)b(\sigma^p) =\sum^{p-1}_{i=0}c(\sigma^i, \sigma ) and am(σp)=∑i=0p−1σim.a_m(\sigma^p) =\sum^{p-1}_{i=0}\sigma^im.)
