Topological Vector Spaces, II, p. 69

Bourbaki marks this one as harder than the rest.

Let EE be a Hausdorff topological vector space, and CC be a non-empty open convex non-pointed cone with vertex 0, in EE. A convex neighbourhood of 0 in EE is denoted by VV. If ff is a convex function that is defined and bounded above in C∩VC \cap V, show that f(x)f(x) tends to a finite limit as xx tends to 0, where x∈C∩Vx \in C \cap V. (Let β=lim sup⁡x→0,x∈C∩Vf(x)\beta = \limsup_{x \to 0, x \in C \cap V} f(x); obtain a contradiction, supposing that for some α>0\alpha > 0, and every neighbourhood W of 0, there exists a point y∈C∩V∩Wy \in C \cap V \cap W such that f(y)<β−αf(y) < \beta - \alpha. Show that there exists a∈C∩Va \in C \cap V such that f(ρa)≥β−12αf(\rho a) \geq \beta - \frac{1}{2}\alpha for 0<ρ≤10 < \rho \leq 1; deduce that, on a line joining a point of the form ρa\rho a (ρ\rho sufficiently small) to a point yy in C∩VC \cap V such that f(y)<β−αf(y) < \beta - \alpha, and that is sufficiently close to 0, there exist points of C∩VC \cap V where ff is arbitrarily large.)
