Topological Vector Spaces, II, p. 71

Let A be a compact convex set in Rn\mathbf{R}^n and B its projection on the subspace Rn−1\mathbf{R}^{n-1} (identified as the hyperplane with equation ξn=0\xi_n = 0). Show that there exist two convex functions f1,f2f_1, f_2 defined over B, such that A is identical with the set of points (x,ζ)(x, \zeta) of Rn\mathbf{R}^n where x∈B,y∈Rx \in B, y \in \mathbf{R} and f1(x)≤ζ≤−f2(x)f_1(x) \leq \zeta \leq -f_2(x).
