Topological Vector Spaces, II, p. 71

Let X be a convex set of an affine space E and pp an affine linear mapping of E in a second affine linear space E1E_1. Write X1=p(X)X_1 = p(X). For every real-valued function ff defined in X and every x1∈X1x_1 \in X_1, let

f1(x1)=inf⁡p(x)=x1f(x). f_1(x_1) = \inf_{p(x) = x_1} f(x) .
Show that if ff is convex and if f1(x1)>−∞f_1(x_1) > -\infty for all x1∈X1x_1 \in X_1, then f1f_1 is a convex function.
