Functions of a Real Variable, II, 87

Let II be an interval of R\mathbf{R}, AA a neighbourhood of a point α0\alpha_0 in the field R\mathbf{R} (resp. the field C\mathbf{C}), and ff a continuous map of I×AI \times A into a complete normed space EE over R\mathbf{R}, such that fα′(x,α)f'_\alpha(x, \alpha) exists and is continuous on I×AI \times A. Let a(α)a(\alpha), b(α)b(\alpha) be two continuous functions defined on AA, with values in II, such that one has identically f(a(α),α)=f(b(α),α)=0f(a(\alpha), \alpha) = f(b(\alpha), \alpha) = 0 on AA. Show that the function g(α)=∫a(α)b(α)f(t,α) dtg(\alpha) = \int_{a(\alpha)}^{b(\alpha)} f(t, \alpha)\,dt admits a derivative equal to ∫a(α0)b(α0)fα′(t,α0) dt\int_{a(\alpha_0)}^{b(\alpha_0)} f'_\alpha(t, \alpha_0)\,dt at the point α0\alpha_0, even if aa and bb are not differentiable at the point α0\alpha_0 (let MM be the supremum of ∥fα′(x,α)∥\|f'_\alpha(x, \alpha)\| on a compact neighbourhood of (b(α0),α0)(b(\alpha_0), \alpha_0); note, applying Bolzano's theorem to b(α)b(\alpha), that for every xx belonging to the interval with endpoints b(α0)b(\alpha_0) and b(α)b(\alpha), one has, for α\alpha sufficiently close to α0\alpha_0, that ∥f(x,α)∥≤M∣α−α0∣\|f(x, \alpha)\| \leq M |\alpha - \alpha_0|).
