Exercise 17, § 1

Integration, III, p. 58

For every measure μ\mu on a locally compact space XX and every homeomorphism σ\sigma of XX onto itself, let μσ\mu_\sigma be the measure f↦μ(f∘σ)f \mapsto \mu(f \circ \sigma).

a) Show that ∣μσ∣=∣μ∣σ|\mu_\sigma| = |\mu|_\sigma.

b) Equip M(X;C)\mathscr{M}(X; \mathbf{C}) with the vague topology and denote by A\mathscr{A} the set of continuous endomorphisms of the locally convex space M(X;C)\mathscr{M}(X; \mathbf{C}); equip A\mathscr{A} with the topology of uniform convergence in the vaguely bounded subsets of M(X;C)\mathscr{M}(X; \mathbf{C}). Let Γ\Gamma be the group of homeomorphisms of X onto itself, equipped with the topology Tβ\mathscr{T}_\beta defined in GT, X, §3, No. 5. For every σ∈Γ\sigma \in \Gamma, let AσA_\sigma be the mapping μ↦μσ\mu \mapsto \mu_\sigma, which belongs to A\mathscr{A}; show that the mapping σ↦Aσ\sigma \mapsto A_\sigma of Γ\Gamma into A\mathscr{A} is continuous.
