Exercise 11, § 5

Integration, IV, p. 128

Let ff be a measurable mapping of XX into a Banach space FF. For every rational integer nn (positive or negative) let AnA_n be the set of x∈Xx \in X such that 2n⩾∣f(x)∣>2n−12^n \geqslant |f(x)| > 2^{n-1}. For ff to be integrable, it is necessary and sufficient that the series with general term 2nμ(An)2^n \mu(A_n) (n∈Zn \in \mathbf{Z}) be convergent.
