Exercise 1, § 5

Integration, IX, p. 113

Let TT be a topological space and μ\mu a positive measure on TT. Denote by Sμ\mathscr{S}_\mu the set of subsets of TT whose boundary is μ\mu-negligible.

a) Show that Sμ\mathscr{S}_\mu is a clan.

b) If TT is completely regular, every point of TT has a fundamental system of neighborhoods contained in Sμ\mathscr{S}_\mu (observe that if ff is a continuous function on TT, zero outside a μ\mu-integrable set, then the set of real numbers rr such that f(r)−1f(r)^{-1} is not μ\mu-negligible is countable).
