Exercise 23, § 5

Integration, V, p. 105

Let μ\mu be a positive measure on a locally compact space TT, pp a number such that 1≤p<+∞1 \leq p < +\infty, and qq the conjugate exponent. Show that if gg is a finite measurable function such that, for every function f∈Lpf \in \mathscr{L}^p, the function fgfg is integrable, then gg is locally almost everywhere equal to a function in Lq\mathscr{L}^q. (Show that the mapping f↦fgf \mapsto fg of Lp\mathscr{L}^p into L1\mathscr{L}^1 is continuous, using the closed graph theorem (TVS, I, §3, Cor. 5 of Th. 1).)
