Integration, V, p. 117

Let pp be a finite real number ≥1\geq 1, T and X two locally compact spaces, λ\lambda a positive measure on T, μ\mu a positive measure on X, and ff a function ≥0\geq 0 defined on T×XT \times X, integrable along with fpf^p for the measure λ⊗μ\lambda \otimes \mu. Prove the inequality

(∫∗(∫f dμ)pdλ)1/p≤∫∗(∫fp dλ)1/pdμ. \left( \int^* \left( \int f\, d\mu \right)^p d\lambda \right)^{1/p} \leq \int^* \left( \int f^p\, d\lambda \right)^{1/p} d\mu.

(For every t∈Tt \in T, apply Hölder’s inequality to the function x↦f(t,x)x \mapsto f(t, x), put into the form

f(t,x)=g(t,x)(∫fp(t,x) dλ(t))1/pq, f(t, x) = g(t, x) \left( \int f^p(t, x)\, d\lambda(t) \right)^{1/pq},

where qq is the exponent conjugate to pp.) Show that equality cannot hold unless ff is equivalent to a function of the form g⊗hg \otimes h.
