Integration, V, p. 114
a) Let T, T' be two locally compact spaces countable at infinity, μ a positive measure on T, μ′ a positive measure on T'. Show that for every (μ⊗μ′)-measurable mapping f of T×T′ into R, the function F:t↦∫∗∣f(t,t′)∣dμ′(t′) is μ-measurable (consider T' as the union of an increasing sequence of compact sets).
b) Suppose, moreover, that for almost every t∈T (for μ) the function f(t,⋅) is μ′-integrable and that for almost every t′∈T′ (for μ′) the function f(⋅,t′) is μ-integrable; finally, assume that the function (defined almost everywhere for μ) t↦∫f(t,t′) dμ′(t′) is μ-integrable. Show that the function (defined almost everywhere for μ′) t′↦∫f(t,t′) dμ(t) is then μ′-integrable and
∫dμ′(t′)∫f(t,t′) dμ(t)=∫dμ(t)∫f(t,t′) dμ′(t′).
(By virtue of a), there is a partition of T formed by a μ-negligible set N and a sequence (Kn) of compact sets such that each of the functions fφKn×T′ is (μ⊗μ′)-integrable. Set
gn(t′)=j=1∑n∫Kjf(t,t′) dμ(t)
and apply Exer. 20 of §5.)
c) Let T be the interval [0,1] of R, μ Lebesgue measure on T. For every integer n>0, let An′=[2n1,2n+13], An′′=[2n+13,2n−11], and, in the product space T×T, let Bn′=An′×An′, Bn′′=An′′×An′′, Cn′=An′×An′′, Cn′′=An′′×An′. Set f(t,t′)=4n+1 in Bn′ and Bn′′, f(t,t′)=−4n+1 in Cn′ and Cn′′, for every integer n>0, and f(t,t′)=0 at the other points of T×T. Show that the two integrals ∫dμ(t′)∫f(t,t′) dμ(t) and ∫dμ(t)∫f(t,t′) dμ(t′) are defined and equal, but the function f is not integrable for the measure μ⊗μ.
