Integration, VI, p. 59

Let μ\mu be Lebesgue measure on T=[0,1]T = [0, 1]; denote by FF the vector space over R\mathbf{R} of μ\mu-measurable finite numerical functions on TT, equipped with the topology of pointwise convergence, which makes it a Hausdorff locally convex space.

a) Show that there exists in FF a countable dense subset (consider a dense sequence in the Banach space C(T)C(T) of continuous numerical functions on TT).

b) For every t∈Tt \in T, let f(t)f(t) be the element of the dual F′F' of FF defined by ⟨f(t),z⟩=z(t)\langle f(t), z \rangle = z(t) for all t∈Tt \in T. Show that, when F′F' is equipped with the topology σ(F′,F)\sigma(F', F), ff is scalarly μ\mu-measurable but is not μ\mu-measurable (cf. Prop. 13).
