Bourbaki marks this one as harder than the rest.
Let be a scalarly essentially -integrable mapping of into . For every , denote by the class in of the function . We shall say that is scalarly well integrable if, for every function , .
a) For to be scalarly well integrable, it is necessary and sufficient that be continuous for the topologies and . When this is so, the image under of every equicontinuous subset of is a relatively weakly compact subset of . In particular: for every equicontinuous subset of and every , there exists a compact subset of such that for all ; for every equicontinuous subset of and every , there exists an such that, for every open set of measure , one has for all (Ch. V, §5, Exer. 15).
b) Assume that the conditions and of a) are verified and, moreover, that there exists a subspace , dense for the topology , such that for every function whose class is in , one has . Show that under these conditions, if in addition is assumed to be quasi-complete, then is scalarly well integrable. (First reduce to the case that is complete (for its original topology), and observe that is a continuous linear mapping of into , when is equipped with the topology and with the topology of uniform convergence on the equicontinuous subsets of .)
c) Suppose that is scalarly well integrable. Show that for every Cauchy sequence for the topology , the sequence is strongly convergent in (use Exer. 25 c) of Ch. IV, §5 and Exer. 16 b) of Ch. V, §5). From this, deduce that if is the image of the unit ball of under the mapping , then every Cauchy sequence for the topology is a Cauchy sequence for the topology of uniform convergence in .
d) Deduce from c) that if is scalarly well integrable, then the image under of every subset of that is equicontinuous and metrizable for , is relatively strongly compact in . In particular, if is the dual of a Hausdorff locally convex space , if is equipped with a topology compatible with the duality between and , and if there exists in a countable strongly dense subset, then the image under of every bounded subset of is relatively strongly compact in (embed in its bidual).
