Let μ\mu be a positive measure on TT, carried by a countable union of compact sets. a) Let HH be a set of μ\mu-measurable numerical functions, such that for every t∈Tt \in T, sup⁡f∈Hf(t)<+∞\sup_{f \in H} f(t) < +\infty. Show that there exists a finite μ\mu-measurable function gg such that f(t)≤g(t)f(t) \leq g(t) almost everywhere for every function f∈Hf \in H. (Reduce to the case that μ\mu is bounded and the functions in HH take their values in [−1,+1][-1, +1], by means of an increasing homeomorphism of R‾\overline{\mathbf{R}} onto this interval. Then consider the supremum g~\widetilde{g} in L1(μ)L^1(\mu) of the set of classes of the functions in HH (Ch. IV, §3, No. 6, Prop. 14) and observe that there exists a sequence of functions in HH that converges almost everywhere to gg.) b) Let ff be a scalarly μ\mu-measurable mapping of TT into a Hausdorff locally convex space FF. For every subset B′B' of F′F', bounded for σ(F′,F)\sigma(F', F), show that there exists a measurable and finite numerical function gB′g_{B'} such that, for every z′∈B′z' \in B', ∣⟨f(t),z′⟩∣≤gB′(t)|\langle f(t), z' \rangle| \leq g_{B'}(t) almost everywhere. c) Let FF be a Fréchet space, ff a scalarly μ\mu-measurable mapping of TT into FF. Show that for every compact subset KK of TT and every ε>0\varepsilon > 0, there exists a compact set K′⊂KK' \subset K such that μ(K−K′)≤ε\mu(K - K') \leq \varepsilon and the restriction of ff to K′K' is bounded (make use of b)).
