Let μ\mu be Lebesgue measure on T=[0,1]T = [0, 1]; the mapping f↦f⋅μf \mapsto f \cdot \mu of C(T)C(T) into M(T)M(T) is continuous for the strong topology on M(T)M(T), hence is a vectorial measure mm with values in that Banach space. Show that mm is scalarly of base μ\mu and absolutely continuous with respect to μ\mu for the strong topology, but that mm does not have base μ\mu (for the strong topology on M(T)M(T)). (Observe that mm has base μ\mu for the vague topology σ(M(T),C(T))\sigma(M(T), C(T)), and deduce from this that if one had m=g⋅μm = g \cdot \mu, with gg scalarly μ\mu-integrable (for the strong topology on M(T)M(T)), one would necessarily have g(t)=εtg(t) = \varepsilon_t almost everywhere. Show that this leads to a contradiction, by observing that for every bounded numerical function θ\theta on TT, the linear form z′:λ↦∑t∈Tθ(t)λ({t})z' : \lambda \mapsto \sum_{t \in T} \theta(t) \lambda(\{t\}) on M(T)M(T) is continuous but that ⟨g,z′⟩\langle g, z' \rangle is not necessarily μ\mu-measurable.)
