Exercise 12, § 3

Integration, VIII, p. 64

Let G be a locally compact group that is not unimodular.

a) Show that there exists a bounded positive measure μ\mu on G such that ΔG⋅μ\Delta_G \cdot \mu is not bounded (take μ\mu to be discrete).

b) Let μ′\mu' be a left Haar measure on G. Then μ\mu and μ′\mu' are convolvable (Prop. 5). Show that μ′\mu' and μ\mu are not convolvable.
