Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, I, 75

Let gg be a Lie algebra. (a) For a derivation DD of gg to commute with all the inner derivations of gg, it is necessary and sufficient that DD map gg into its centre. (b) Suppose henceforth that gg has centre zero, so that gg is identified with an ideal of the Lie algebra D\mathfrak{D} of all derivations of gg. Show that the centralizer of gg in D\mathfrak{D} is zero (use (a)). In particular, the centre of D\mathfrak{D} is zero. (c) Show that a derivation Δ\Delta of D\mathfrak{D} such that Δ(g)={0}\Delta(g) = \{0\} is zero. ([Δ(D),g]⊂Δ([D,g])+[D,Δ(g)]⊂Δ(g)={0}[ \Delta(\mathfrak{D}), g ] \subset \Delta([\mathfrak{D}, g]) + [\mathfrak{D}, \Delta(g)] \subset \Delta(g) = \{0\} and hence Δ(D)={0}\Delta(\mathfrak{D}) = \{0\} by (b).) (d) Show that, if further g=Dgg = \mathscr{D}g, every derivation Δ\Delta of D\mathfrak{D} is inner (use (c) and Exercise 11).
