Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, I, 91

(a) Show that a Lie algebra gg in which every subalgebra is subinvariant is nilpotent. (Show that if dim⁡g>1\dim g > 1 every x∈gx \in g belongs to an ideal h≠gh \neq g of gg which has the same property as gg and hence is nilpotent by induction on the dimension of gg; hence adxx\mathrm{ad}_x x is nilpotent.) (b) Show that if in a Lie algebra gg every subalgebra distinct from gg is distinct from its normalizer, gg is nilpotent. (Reduce it to (a).)
