Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, II, 187

Let (Gn)(G_n) be an integral central filtration on G. Show that the Lie algebra gr(G)gr(G) is generated by gr1(G)gr_1(G) if and only if Gn=Gn+1⋅CnGG_n = G_{n+1} \cdot C^n G for all n⩾1n \geqslant 1. In that case, show that Gn=Gm⋅CnGG_n = G_m \cdot C^n G for m>nm > n and deduce that (Gn)=(CnG)(G_n) = (C^n G) if there exists an integer m such that Gm={e}G_m = \{ e \}.
