Bourbaki marks this one as harder than the rest.
Let (Hα) be a real filtration on a group H and let vH be the corresponding order function. Suppose that G operates on H on the left and that, for all g∈G, the mapping h↦g(h) is an automorphism of the filtered group H.
(a) If α∈R, we denote by Gα the set of g∈G such that
vH(h−1g(h))≥vH(h)+αfor all h∈H. Show that
(Gα) is a real filtration of
G and that
Gα=G if
α≤0. Let
v denote the corresponding order function.
(b) Suppose that the filtration (Hα) is central and that G0+=G. Show that (Gα) is a central filtration of G. If ξ∈grα(G) and η∈grβ(H), let g (resp. h) be a representative of ξ (resp. η) in Gα (resp. Hβ); show that the image of h−1g(h) in grα+β(H) is independent of the choice of g and h; if it is denoted by Dξ(η), show that Dξ can be extended to a derivation of the Lie algebra gr(H) of degree α and that ξ↦Dξ is a homomorphism of the Lie algebra gr(G) into the Lie algebra of derivations of gr(H). If vH(H)∩R is contained in a discrete subgroup Γ of R, so is v(G)∩R and, for all α∈R, the mapping ξ↦Dξ defined above is injective.
