Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, III, 406

Let GG and G′G' be two Lie groups of type (N) (Exercise 29) and let Γ\Gamma be a discrete subgroup of GG such that G/ΓG/\Gamma is compact. Show that every homomorphism f ⁣:Γ→G′f \colon \Gamma \to G' can be extended uniquely to a Lie group morphism of GG into G′G' (begin by extending ff to the saturation Γˉ\bar{\Gamma} of Γ\Gamma and derive a homomorphism of the Lie Q\mathbf{Q}-algebra log⁡(Γˉ)\log(\bar{\Gamma}) into the Lie algebra of G′G', cf. Exercise 29).
