Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, VII, 56

Let h\mathfrak{h} be a commutative Lie algebra ≠0,P\not= 0, P a finite subset of h∗\mathfrak{h}^* containing 0. Show that there exists a Lie algebra g\mathfrak{g} containing h\mathfrak{h} as a Cartan subalgebra, and such that the set of weights of h\mathfrak{h} in g\mathfrak{g} is P. (Construct g\mathfrak{g} as the semi-direct product of h\mathfrak{h} by the h\mathfrak{h}-module V which is the direct sum of the 1-dimensional modules corresponding to the elements of P -- {0}\{0\}, cf. Exerc. 7.)

An element xx of h\mathfrak{h} is such that h=g0(x)\mathfrak{h}=\mathfrak{g}^0(x) if and only if xx is not orthogonal to any element of P-- {0}\{0\}.
