Bourbaki

Exercise 7, § 3

General Topology, II, 209

Bourbaki marks this one as harder than the rest.

Let XX be a Hausdorff uniform space, U\mathfrak{U} its uniformity, U0\mathfrak{U}_0 the uniformity induced on F(X)\mathfrak{F}(X) by the uniformity U~\tilde{\mathfrak{U}} (§2§ 2, Exercise 6 bb), U00\mathfrak{U}_{00} the uniformity induced on F(F(X))\mathfrak{F}(\mathfrak{F}(X)) by the uniformity U~0\tilde{\mathfrak{U}}_0. Show that the canonical mapping x→{{x}}x \to \{ \{ x \} \} of XX into F(F(X))\mathfrak{F}(\mathfrak{F}(X)) extends to an isomorphism of X^\hat{X} onto a closed uniform subspace of F(F(X))\mathfrak{F}(\mathfrak{F}(X)) (carrying the uniformity U00\mathfrak{U}_{00}) (use Proposition 9 of no. 4).
