General Topology, IX, 269

Let AA be the algebra (over R\mathbf{R}) of bounded real-valued functions defined on the interval X=[1,+∞[X = [1, +\infty[ of R\mathbf{R}, with the norm ∥f∥=sup⁡x∈X∣f(x)∣\|f\| = \sup_{x \in X} |f(x)|. For each integer n>0n > 0, let unu_n be the function which is equal to 1/n1/n for n≤x≤n+1n \leq x \leq n+1 and equal to 00 elsewhere. Show that the family (1+un)(1 + u_n) is multipliable in AA but that the series whose general term is unu_n is not absolutely summable in AA.
