General Topology, IX

Let XX be a topological space, each point of which has a countable fundamental system of neighbourhoods.

a) XX is Hausdorff provided that every convergent sequence in XX has only one limit.

b) If aa is a cluster point of an infinite sequence (xn)(x_n) of points of XX, then there is an infinite subsequence of (xn)(x_n) which converges to aa.

c) Let AA be a non-empty subset of XX, let x0x_0 be a point of A‾\overline{A}, and let ff be a mapping of AA into a Hausdorff topological space X′X'. Then a point a∈X′a \in X' is a limit of ff at the point x0x_0, relative to AA, provided that, for every sequence (xn)(x_n) of points of AA which converges to x0x_0, the sequence (f(xn))(f(x_n)) converges to aa.

d) With the notation of cjc_j, suppose also that every point of X′X' has a countable fundamental system of neighbourhoods. If a∈X′a \in X' is a cluster point of ff at x0x_0 relative to AA, then there is a sequence (xn)(x_n) of points of AA which converges to x0x_0 and is such that the sequence (f(xn))(f(x_n)) converges to aa.
