Exercise 7, § 3

General Topology, IX

Let EE be a normed space over a valued division ring. Show that if every absolutely summable family in EE is summable in EE, then EE is complete. [Let (xn)(x_n) be a Cauchy sequence in EE, and consider a subsequence (xnk)(x_{n_k}) of (xn)(x_n) such that the series whose general term is xnk+1−xnkx_{n_{k+1}} - x_{n_k} is absolutely convergent.]
