Exercise 1, § 5

General Topology, IX

a) If AA is a subset of a topological space XX, show that the following statements are equivalent: α\alpha the frontier of AA is nowhere dense; β\beta AA is the union of an open set and a nowhere dense set; γ\gamma AA is the difference between a closed set and a nowhere dense set.

bb Show that if a subset AA of XX is such that, for each point x∈Ax \in A, there is a neighbourhood VV of xx in XX such that V∩AV \cap A is nowhere dense in XX, then AA is nowhere dense in XX.
