Algebra, VIII, p. 49, § 3. Simple Modules

Let M be a nonzero finitely generated A-module. There exists a two-sided ideal a\mathfrak{a} of A, annihilator of a simple A-module, such that aM\mathfrak{a}M is not equal to M.

Let N be a maximal submodule of M (Proposition 3), and let a\mathfrak{a} be the annihilator of the simple A-module M/NM/N; it is a two-sided ideal of A, and we have a(M/N)=0\mathfrak{a}(M/N) = 0, whence aM⊂N\mathfrak{a}M\subset N and consequently aM≠M\mathfrak{a}M\not= M.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
