Algebra, VIII, p. 113, § 6. Morita Equivalence of Modules and Algebras
A right B-module P is projective, finitely generated, and generating if and only if there exist an integer and an idempotent in with the following properties:
(i) The B-module P is isomorphic to .
(ii) The two-sided ideal of B generated by the elements is equal to B.
Let P be a right B-module. Then P is projective and finitely generated if and only if it is isomorphic to a direct factor submodule of a B-module of the form , where is an integer (II, §2, No. 2, p. 232, Corollary 1). If we identify the -algebras and End(B), then this means that there exists an idempotent in such that P is isomorphic to .
The B-module P is generating if and only if its trace ideal is equal to B, that is, (VIII, p. 80, Theorem 1). Let be the elements of corresponding to the columns of the matrix , and let (for ) be the linear form on . The family generates the B-module , and the family generates its dual. Now, we have , so is the two-sided ideal of B generated by the . This proves Lemma 3.
Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
