Bourbaki marks this one as harder than the rest.

Let L be a finite Galois extension of the commutative field K, with Galois group G. Let V and V′V' be K-vector spaces and ww (resp. w′w') a tensor of type (p,q)(p, q) on V (resp. V′V'). An L-isomorphism from (V,w)(V, w) to (V′,w′)(V', w') is an L-linear isomorphism u:V(L)→V(L)′u: V_{(L)}\rightarrow V'_{(L)} such that u⊗p⊗(tu−1)⊗qu^{\otimes p}\otimes (^tu^{-1})^{\otimes q} sends the image of ww to that of w′w'. We denote by AutL(V,w)_L(V, w) the group of L-automorphisms of (V,w)(V, w), on which G acts by σφ=(1V⊗σ)∘φ∘(1V⊗σ)−1^{\sigma}\varphi = (1_V\otimes \sigma )\circ \varphi \circ (1_V\otimes \sigma )^{-1}.

a) Let uu be an L-isomorphism from (V,w)(V, w) to (V′,w′)(V', w') and σ\sigma an element of G; the mapping σu=(1V′⊗σ)∘u∘(1V⊗σ)−1^{\sigma}u= (1_{V'}\otimes \sigma )\circ u\circ (1_V\otimes \sigma )^{-1} is an L-isomorphism from (V,w)(V, w) to (V′,w′)(V', w'), so that c(σ)=u−1∘σuc(\sigma ) =u^{-1}\circ^{\sigma}u is an element of AutL(V,w)_L(V, w). Prove that the mapping c:G→c: G\rightarrow AutL(V,w)_L(V, w) belongs to Z1(GZ^1(G, AutL(V,w))_L(V, w)) and that its class θ(V′,w′)\theta (V', w') in H1(GH^1(G, AutL(V,w))_L(V, w)) does not depend on the choice of uu.

b) Prove that the mapping (V′,t′)↦θ(V′,t′)(V', t')\mapsto \theta (V', t') defines a bijection from the set of K-isomorphism classes of pairs (V′,w′)(V', w') L-isomorphic to (V,w)(V, w) to the set H1(GH^1(G, AutL(V,w))_L(V, w)). (Given an element cc of Z1(GZ^1(G, AutL(V,w)_L(V, w)), deduce from Exercise 5, d) an L-automorphism ff of V(L)V_{(L)} such that c(σ)=f−1∘σfc(\sigma ) =f^{-1}\circ^{\sigma}f. Prove that the image w′w' of ww by the automorphism deduced from ff is rational over K, and consider the pair (V,w′).)(V, w').)

∗*c) Examples: The set H1(G,Sp2n(L))H^1(G,\mathbf{S}\mathbf{p}_{2n}(L)) is reduced to one element. If Q is a quadratic form on K, then the set H1(G,O(Q(L)))H^1(G,\mathbf{O}(Q_{(L)})) can be identified with the set of equivalence classes of quadratic forms on K equivalent to Q over L.∗L.*

d) Let A be a K-algebra and M the automorphism group of the L-algebra A(L)A_{(L)}, endowed with the action of G defined above. The construction in b) defines a bijection from the set of isomorphism classes of pairs (B,u)(B, u), where B is a K-algebra and uu is an isomorphism from B(L)B_{(L)} to A(L)A_{(L)}, to the set Z1(G,M)Z^1(G,M). The inverse bijection sends an element cc of Z1(G,M)Z^1(G,M) to the K-subalgebra of A(L)A_{(L)} consisting of the elements aa satisfying c(σ)(σ(a))=ac(\sigma )(\sigma (a)) =a for every σ∈G\sigma \in G.
