Algebra, VIII, p. 426

Let A and H be subgroups of G. Suppose that A is commutative and normal and that G is the semidirect product of H and A. The group H acts on A^=\widehat{A} = Hom(A,K∗,K^*); choose a system of representatives (αi)i∈A^/H(\alpha_i)_{i\in\widehat{A}/H} of the orbits of H in A^\widehat{A}. For i∈A^/Hi\in \widehat{A}/H, let HiH_i be the stabilizer of αi\alpha_i in H, and let Gi=G_i= AHi_i. For every irreducible representation σ\sigma of HiH_i, define a representation ρi,σ\rho_{i,\sigma} of GiG_i by setting ρi,σ(ah)=\rho_{i,\sigma}(ah) = αi(a)σ(h)\alpha_i(a)\sigma (h) for a∈Aa\in A and h∈Hh\in H. Prove that the representations IndGiG(ρi,σ)^G_{G_i}(\rho_{i,\sigma}), for i∈A^/Hi\in \widehat{A}/H and σ∈H^i\sigma \in \widehat{H}_i, are irreducible and pairwise nonisomorphic, and that we obtain all irreducible representations of G this way (apply Exercise 9).
