Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VII, § 2. Cartan subalgebras and regular elements of a Lie algebra

Assume that kk is of characteristic 0. Let g\mathfrak{g} be a semi-simple Lie algebra, h\mathfrak{h} a Cartan subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g}. Then h\mathfrak{h} is commutative, and all of its elements are semi-simple in g\mathfrak{g} (Chap. I, §6, no. 3, Def. 3).

Since h=g0(h),h\mathfrak{h}=\mathfrak{g}^0(\mathfrak{h}),\mathfrak{h} is reductive (§1, Prop. 11), hence commutative since it is nilpotent. On the other hand, the restriction of the adjoint representation of g\mathfrak{g} to h\mathfrak{h} is semi-simple (loc. cit.), so the elements of h\mathfrak{h} are semi-simple in g\mathfrak{g} (Algebra, Chap. VIII, §5, no. 1).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
